Nithya Shanti is an internationally respected spiritual teacher, seminar leader, writer and educator, committed to sharing practical wisdom teachings for happiness and enlightenment with people in a joyful and transformational way.

Blending a deep study of ancient scriptures, along with a broad survey of contemporary discoveries, Nithya Shanti specializes in facilitating profound shifts in awareness for people to release limitations and awaken latent potentials for a fulfilling life.

An interest in inner growth and spirituality from an early age inspired him to study with many wise teachers and awakened masters. Not content with intellectual understanding alone, he began a daily practice of meditation at the age of sixteen and attended many meditation retreats.

Nithya Shanti completed an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur and then worked in the corporate sector. Despite having a promising career, he was drawn to pursue his spiritual quest further. In 2002, he ordained as a Buddhist Monk.

After six years of living in forest meditation monasteries in Thailand, Sri Lanka and also various parts of India and the US, he was guided to live, learn and serve in broader ways than the traditional role of a monk permitted. With the blessings of his teachers he stepped out of the robes in early 2008 and now shares joyful teachings in happiness joyshops, youth programs, corporate trainings and meditation retreats around the world.

He has been invited to share his insights around the world by leading universities, corporate and non-governmental organizations, he has coached CEOs, senior government officials and school teachers, and taught these principles at international conferences as well as in prisons.

His work is orchestrated by the Nithya Shanti Foundation, a not for profit organization, with the purpose of re-awakening a heart based, earth conscious culture based on wisdom and joy.

About Nithya Shanti Foundation

The Nithya Shanti Foundation (NSF) is a not for profit organization created in 2010 to support Nithya Shanti’s aim of addressing the challenges of contemporary life through practical spiritual teachings based on mindfulness and compassion.  The vision of the Foundation is to awaken a culture based on wisdom and joy by encouraging dialogue and inquiry into what is real happiness and sharing timeless principles and practices for personal and institutional transformation.

The Foundation is guided by Nithya Shanti’s philosophy of being present and grateful in every situation and seeing everything that happens as a lesson for our growth and enlightenment. The aim is to create virtual and actual communities that facilitate the awakening of wisdom and compassion for conscious human evolution. Through a light-hearted and joyful exploration, discovery and application of our natural wisdom, all dimensions of life blossom: there is physical, emotional, mental, social, material and spiritual wellbeing.

The Foundation’s offerings include inspirational talks, happiness workshops (called "joyshops" ) and residential retreats for individuals as well as institutions. In the long term the Foundation intends to create wisdom based educational institutions, retreat and study centers for research and development in the areas of conscious living, integral healing, life purpose, and creating a planetary culture that sees everything as inherently sacred.
